IPG Turbo K Series EG Gets Track Ready

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

After some changes we are finally ready to get the IPG Turbo K Series EG out to the track.  With a strange missing 4th gear issue in the previous transmission we have swapped in a EP3 5 Speed Transmission with a new Quaife LSD as well as a set of DriveShaft Shop 3.9 Axles.

The interior of the car received a new Momo Mod 78 Black Suede Steering wheel.

And for when the car is in street trim we put on a set of Black Civic HX Wheels that we had around the shop, just giving it a bit meaner look.

Today we finished test fitting the Weld Magnum Import Drag Wheels and had to raise the front of the car about 1/4″ to ensure we have the required clearance for the MT 24.5x9x13 ET Drag Slick.  These are actually the same wheels that we have been running on our All Motor Civic so they are pulling double duty for the time being.

We plan on testing the car Friday Night, January 28th, 2011 at Orlando Speedworld so if you are in the area stop by and check us out.  We are currently running the same pump gas tune that netted us high 400 wheel horsepower with the best 93 octane gas that our local gas station had to offer

Turbo K Series Tune — 475 WHP on 93 Octane Pump Gas

Monday, September 27th, 2010

We recently had the Turbo K Series back on the dyno to have the KPro checked over by Darin from Double D Tuning and in the process we created a bit more horsepower as well.

Since this car is planned to remain a true street car we only are putting 93 Octane Pump Gas in the tank so that is what we topped off with before hitting the dyno.

Basic Engine setup is:
K24 Block — Stock Sleeves
CP Pistons — H Beam Rods
Stock K20a2 Cylinder Head
Garrett GT35r Turbocharger at approximately 18 PSI

The power #’s are right in the range that we wanted and are happy with the end result. This will continue to be a fun street car and now that we got in some Driveshaft Shop 3.9 Axles for it we will be installing those shortly and prepping the car to hit the 1/4 mile drag strip finally for some fun.

New IPG Project — Time for K Series Fun

Monday, August 16th, 2010

Sometimes you find one of those deals that is just too good to pass up.  This was the case this past week when we ran into this great new project car.  So you see the exterior pictures and don’t think much of it but what lurks beneath the hood of this beast is something that we have been looking to tackle for quite some time now and this car gives us a huge step in that direction.

As much as I love the B series powerplant and continue to develop and build those engines the K series engines are definitely the wave of future growth.  We have been in the market for a K series powered vehicle for the last couple of months and this one not only fits the bill, but blows any idea of what we wanted to start with out of the water.

Basic Exterior but a 500+ Horsepower K24/K20 Powerplant under the hood will surely surprise quite a few.

The basic rundown is a K24 Block with CP Pistons and IB Connecting Rods, K20a2 Cylinder Head, Full Race GT35r Turbo Kit, Full Blown Twin intake Walbro Fuel Pumps, RC 1200cc Injectors, Hondata KPro.

So far as tuned by the previous owner this setup has made about 450 whp on pump gas.

So you ask yourself what are we going to do with it?  We are going to continue to push the the setup a bit more and probably throw some new parts into the mix as we start checking out what we can offer the K series market.

Stay tuned, this is going to be kept as a legitimate street car that we can drive around if we choose that will also have incredible track potential.  We are very excited about this one !!!
